I'm not much of an expert on photography, but as a commoner, I must say, I'm rather awestruck by this photograph. It's striking how sharp this cat's face is; the first thing we notice are his hooded eyes, which is interesting because that's not even the part that's in focus. Then, we finally bring our attention to his whiskers, which I assume is why this is titled "16 years". We see the cat's whitening whiskers and somehow his face seems aged as we process this. His expression seems less sharp and more worldly after we notice this. I liked this aspect of it; how we start by looking at a cat that appears to be menacing, but then as we begin to realize how old he is, we sense how serene and calm he is. Very nice!
First I have to say I LOVE animals and especially Cats, so when I say this I was like 'Wow this looks deep'. Anyways it looks so simple, but yet so mysterious. She/he looks sad or depressed; I don't know if that was intended, but I admire how captivating it is to the eye.
Vision: As I said before it's hard for me to make out if the cat is sad, mad,or depressed, but it all depends on perspective. Overall it's hypnotizing to look at.
Originality: There are plenty of cat pictures out there and they're all wonderful, yours though, seems deep and meaningful.
Technique: The Black & White is actually not that bad. I sometimes hate how people just use it for every picture as if deviant Art was an instagram, but it actually belongs with your photo. I wouldn't use it all the time though.
Impact : I just have to say I love it, the beautiful cat, the everything. It was a well done piece. I totally love how the whiskers kinda stick out.
